Adding Text to your main page

One of the most important places on your shopping cart is your main page. This is where you have the ability to let customers know what your site is all about, what you offer, specials, and more. It's very important to think about what it is you're going to be putting here before you just throw a bunch of nonsense up there and you wind up losing more customers then you're keeping.

There's a section on your ZenCart called the main page, it's the area between the sideboxes where if you have any products they show up as well. The portion of the page we're going to work with is just above that and may not even be visible because we haven't added anything. It's this spot here that you have the ability to put text and/or images to help promote your site or your products.

To get to where we need to be working goto:

ADMIN > TOOLS > DEFINE PAGES EDITOR

This brings up a page with a couple of dropdown menus, on the right hand side you will need to select HTML AREA or FCKeditor if that's been installed for you. The page will refresh and your selection will be shown there. **/***

After that, move to the left hand dropdown box and select DEFINE_MAIN_PAGE.PHP and once again the page will refresh and you will be brought to the page we're going to work on.

When the page loads up, there will be a large white box with a blue/gray frame around it. In the white box you can type in your text. For the purpose of this tutorial, start by just typing in "testing" and then click  .

Now go and look at the front page of your site and you should see the word "testing" on there. Now you can go back there and start adding some words about your site, your products, what you do, or even images. The buttons inside the blue/gray area have many different functions and allow you to control the fonts, add images, and more.

** You can also use these directions for editing various other pages on the site such as your privacy notice, shipping policy and terms/conditions of use.

*** Unless the FCKeditor is installed, any images you want to display will need to be uploaded to the site via FTP beforehand. The FCKeditor has a built in FTP loader that will take an image from your computer and copy it to the site as well as automatically include it in the section you're working on. If you have to upload files to the site, remember what folders you put them in so that when you go to add the images to the main page, you can provide the HTML editor the link to the image(s).

If your site is hosted with Valhalla Computers and you do not have the FCKeditor installed, send us an email to admin@valhalla-computers.com and we will be more then happy to install this wonderful module for you.
